Once the free cloud storage space is full, users will have to pay Rs 1,100 per 100 GB per year. Those who do not want to spend money for this will have to delete some of their data to make room for upcoming photos, emails and files. Okay, there are easy ways to delete unwanted photos and videos, but check out how your Gmail can automatically delete emails you do not want to save. There is a feature called Automatic Delete Filters, which is easily accessible.

How to delete emails automatically

Step 1: Open Gmail on your PC or laptop.
Step 2: In the search bar, you will see a filter icon. Just tap on it.

Note: If you do not see the icon, you will find it in the Settings section> ‘Filters and Blocked Addresses’ tab. After that, you need to tap on the ‘Create a new filter’ button.

Step 3: Notice the ‘From’ written above. Enter the name or email address of non-essential emails. For example, if you do not need emails from services such as Zomato, Voot, Quora, Facebook and LinkedIn, you can enter their email ID.

Note: It’s better to always provide an email ID than a name, because if any of your emails have the same name, Gmail may delete it as well.

Step 4: Once you are done, click on Create Filter and select ‘Delete’.
Step 5: After this you need to click on Create Filter again. You’re all set now.

Please note that this feature will not delete all your old emails and will be for all future emails. Once you have created a filter, your Gmail will delete it automatically. You can always delete the filters you created. To do this, go to Settings> Filters and Blocked Addresses. Here you can edit or delete filters. This method will ensure that your Gmail stays clean.

How can I delete old emails in Gmail?

You will have to do this manually. But, do not worry, there is an easy way to delete most emails at once. Just enter your name or email address in the search bar and Gmail will display all the emails you receive. After that, select the ‘All’ button located at the top and click on the Delete icon.
