Realme 5G phones will come with the cheapest price in India around Rs.7000.
While there are indications that 5G connectivity will soon be available in India, Realme is coming up with a cheaper 5G phone. At the recent Global 5G Summit, Madhav Sheth, Head of Realme India and Europe, said that the 5G phone will bring a model priced at Rs 7,000 or $100. With the huge proliferation of 5G phones globally, it is hoped that Realme’s plan will make sense. Especially at a time when 5G technology is getting cheaper day by day.
The company plans to expand this year, including current models of phones in Realme’s 5G portfolio. It will include the number series entry level market. The Realme Race mid-range and the upcoming GT Series are available for premium and flagship segments. With this, the 5G phone that Realme is planning to launch will be a number one series phone. Focusing on the 108-megapixel camera, the Realme 8 Pro is the company’s number one phone in the series, but there is no 5G in the series.
Realme already has affordable 5G phones in India. The recently launched Realme 8 5G is one of the cheapest 5G phones in India. Some other phone models like Realme Narzo 30 Pro 5G and X7 are priced between Rs 15,000 and Rs 20,000. Realme is all set to launch 5G phones this year. At the global summit, the company announced that it plans to launch 20 5G phones by 2022, which will account for 70% of the total 5G phone portfolio. The current range of 5G phones is only 40% of the number that Realme has set aside until 2022. Therefore, a Rs 7,000 smartphones will be crucial in the 5G market in India.
Meanwhile, 5G connectivity has not yet commercially launched in the country. The telecom ministry had recently asked carriers in India to launch experiments in collaboration with companies like Nokia, Ericsson and Samsung. Not only smartphones, but also 5G feature phones may be under construction.
